Mystique Casino turned to Plaid Swan to highlight their new theme buffet offerings at Bon Appetit Buffet.
Seafood. It bears its own, rich maritime-themed visual language—an uncommon aesthetic in the Midwest. Borrowing visual cues from fishing piers (weathered paint, distressed wood, live preservers, portals, rope, nets, etc.), a refreshing, unexpected visual identity is achieved. Its virtue is its contrast against other local and category ads, particularly in this geographic region. Given its visual distinctiveness, messaging is stripped down to its essence.
Outdoor lines are boiled down to as few straight-forward words as possible (for quick readability), leaving the onus to impress on the visuals. Print is similarly simple, but with quippy subheads added for emphasis. Surf & Turf materials also borrow from the visual language of cattle ranches: barn wood and rustic fonts that family well with their maritime counterparts. The coastal vs. rancher imagery creates a satisfying Ying-Yang effect.
